Hello! My name is Savannah Krause and I am currently a senior game development student at Neumont College of Computer Science in Salt Lake City.

My passion for gaming started when I was very young, playing games with my older brothers. At first, it started with me holding onto a controller that was definitely plugged in as I played along with my brothers, watching as they (and I since my controller was definitely plugged in) conquer outrageous feats. Eventually, my controllers plug found it's way into the player one slot. I was given absolute freedom to explore the worlds I had seen countless times before but for myself. All the sudden, Hyrule Field in Ocarina of Time felt brand new all over again. But one game really opened up my eyes to what video games could be.

Okami was the first game that I ever fell in love with. The characters where engaging, the story and lore where rich, and the paintbrush aesthetic was absolutely gorgeous. Finally, it all made sense. Video games weren't just something we got yelled at by mom for playing too late into the night. Video games were artistic. They bring everything that we like about different media together and then give us the control to experience it all ourselves.

Video games hold a lot of power. They have the power to connect people with one another. They have the ability to transport us to different worlds, rich with character. They have the power to let us be the hero for once. I love video games because they are powerful.

I aspire to professionally create the types of experiences that have made such a lasting impression on me, and that people may take with them long after their controller is unplugged.
