Flicker
Flicker is a first-person horror game where players are put into a dark environment that they must escape from. Players are able to “flicker” the lights by turning them off and on again. While the lights are turned on, the threats in the dark stay put, but so do you. You must face the darkness if you want to move forward.

Flicker is a horror game that focuses on one main mechanic. Players can toggle the overhead lights to stop the AI from seeking them and to collect their thoughts. The only catch is that they cannot move either during this time.
Although this was a solo project, my main focus for developing this game was the tone and environment design. Most of development time went to creating an immersive environment that leads the player around to different points of interest to find collectibles. I wanted to create a feeling of helplessness in the player even though they had the ability to "take a break" from the challenges they faced.
Design Document
Players have many things they can use to help them navigate the dark and survive:

-
Flicker the lights to give yourself a brief respite
-
Use your failures to help carve out a path to the exit
-
Outsmart the AI and don't get caught in the dark
